The role
As a paralegal, you support lawyers and legal teams with the research, drafting and admin behind every file. You prepare contracts and court documents, keep case files and deadlines in order, handle company registrations and filings, and liaise with clients, courts, notaries and registries.
Who is hiring
Law firms, notary offices, corporate legal departments, banks, insurers and business advisory firms hire paralegals. Most roles are on-site, while document review, research and corporate secretarial support for diaspora clients can be done remotely.
Background and career path
Paralegals usually hold a law degree or a legal assistant diploma. With experience they become senior paralegals or legal officers, and with a master's in law they can move into in-house counsel roles.
