The role
As a relationship manager, you look after a portfolio of bank clients, whether individuals, professionals or companies. You open and grow accounts, offer loans, savings, cards and digital banking, follow your clients' activity and solve their problems quickly. You meet your sales targets while keeping every file compliant with KYC rules.
Who is hiring
Commercial banks, microfinance institutions, savings cooperatives and digital banks hire relationship managers for retail, SME and corporate clients. The job is mostly in branches or business centres, and many banks have dedicated teams for diaspora clients who save, invest or buy property back home.
Background and career path
Relationship managers usually hold a degree in banking, finance, business or economics, and often start as customer service advisors or tellers. They grow into senior relationship manager, private banker, corporate banker or branch manager.
