The role
As a UI/UX designer, you shape how apps and websites look and feel to use. You interview users, sketch user flows, build wireframes and prototypes in Figma and test them before developers start coding. You keep interfaces simple, accessible and consistent with a design system.
Who is hiring
Fintechs, banks, e-commerce platforms, digital agencies and software start-ups hire UI/UX designers to make their apps easier to use. Remote work is widespread, including for diaspora and international companies building products for African customers.
Background and career path
Many UI/UX designers come from graphic design, computer science or psychology, often adding a UX bootcamp and a case-study portfolio. They grow into senior product designer, UX lead or design manager.
