The role
As an event planner, you turn a brief into a wedding, conference, launch or gala that runs on time. You build budgets, book venues, caterers, decorators and sound teams, and manage guest lists and run sheets. On the day, you coordinate everyone on site and solve problems before guests notice.
Who is hiring
Event agencies, hotels with conference centres, wedding planning studios, corporate communication teams, embassies and NGOs organising forums hire event planners. Planning can be partly remote, but delivery days are always on-site, often in the evening or at weekends.
Background and career path
Backgrounds vary: tourism, hospitality, communication or marketing studies, or hands-on experience as an assistant. You grow from coordinator to event manager, head of events or founder of your own agency.
