The role
As a hotel receptionist, you welcome guests, handle check-ins and check-outs, and manage reservations in the property management system. You take payments, answer calls and emails, and pass requests to housekeeping or maintenance. You are often the first and last person a guest remembers.
Who is hiring
Hotels, resorts, guest houses, serviced apartments and business hotels in capital cities all need front desk staff, and international chains value bilingual profiles. The role is on-site and organised in rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
Background and career path
A hospitality or tourism diploma helps, but many receptionists start with a baccalaureate and strong languages. With experience you can become front office supervisor, front office manager or guest relations manager.
