The role
As a logistics coordinator, you make sure goods move from supplier to warehouse to customer on time. You book transport, prepare shipping and customs documents, follow up with freight forwarders and track stock levels. When a truck is held at a border, you are the one finding a fix.
Who is hiring
Freight forwarders, shipping and port companies, consumer goods distributors, mining and oil services firms, e-commerce players and humanitarian organisations hire logistics coordinators. The role mixes office work with warehouse and port visits, so it is mostly on-site.
Background and career path
A diploma or degree in logistics, supply chain or transport is common, and some coordinators start as warehouse clerks. You can progress to logistics manager, supply chain manager or head of operations.
