The role
As a maintenance technician, you keep machines, vehicles or building systems running. You carry out planned maintenance, diagnose breakdowns, replace parts and log every intervention. You work across mechanics, electrics and hydraulics, and you coordinate with production so repairs disrupt as little as possible.
Who is hiring
Factories, breweries and food processors, mining sites, hotels, hospitals, airports and facility management companies hire maintenance technicians. The job is on-site, often organised in rotating shifts or with on-call duty at night.
Background and career path
A technical diploma in electromechanics, industrial maintenance or mechanics is the usual entry point. You can progress to maintenance supervisor, maintenance planner or maintenance manager.
